Adam Emerick, 33, of Greencastle, was found dead at the scene of a crash near mile marker 0.8 of I-81 North, near the Maryland/Pennsylvania border, around 2:33 a.m., according to PA State Police.
A Freightliner Cascadia truck being driven by 59-year-old Ruben Ramirez of El Paso, Texas was illegally parked on the right side of the roadway when Emerick's 2012 Mercedes-Benz E550 struck the tractor-trailer’s bumper, PSP Chambersburg Trooper Bradley Lay detailed in the release.
At this time, no charges have been filed, as the release shows if Emerick had survived he could have been found at fault for "33091 Driving of Roadways Laned For Traffic."
"Adam attended South Hagerstown High School and Washington County Tech for Auto Mechanic," as stated in his obituary published by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home. "He graduated with honors from Universal Technical Institute for Diesel Industrial and Cummins Certified Program."
He went on to be the co-owner of Break Away II Sports Lounge with his mom and brother, according to his obituary. For fun, he played pool on multiple leagues, enjoyed drag racing with his step father's VW Thing, and hunted.
Adam will be remembered for his sense humor that brightened everyone's day, as explained in his obituary.
His parents and siblings survived him. They will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, Monday, November 4, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Instead of flower, memorial donations can be made in his name to the Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Rd., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
